Patients’ Aid Foundation has successfully achieved another milestone and taken a step forward into the future of healthcare by inaugurating the new Cobalt Radiotherapy Unit at the Oncology Ward at JPMC Karachi. This will be benefiting thousands of patients who walk into Jinnah in search of quality medical treatment. We would like to extend our gratitude to all the donors and the team who made this possible.
Patients’ Aid Foundation with its expanding operations and good practices has received certification from Pakistan Centre for Philanthropy. It is a huge achievement where Patients’ Aid Foundation has joined the list of many other philanthropic ventures across Pakistan who have received this prestigious certification.
Yet another milestone achieved in moving a step ahead in improving healthcare services for everyone. With this mission the Ophthalmology ward at JPMC has recently been extended and a new OPD has been inaugurated to facilitate all those in need of eye care, and we are proud to be a part of it. Patients’ Aid Foundation (PAF) has been providing ongoing support to the department so that better standards can be maintained facilitating the maximum amount of patients with ease. A dua ceremony was recently held for the same reason with the Chairman and Vice Chairman of Patients’ Aid Foundation attending the ceremony. Also, Dr. Seemin Jamali honored the ceremony with her presence. This is proof that PAF is reaching new heights everyday into providing state of the art healthcare services for everyone at JPMC Karachi.
The Chairman of the Patients’ Aid Foundation, Mr. Zahid Bashir, has been awarded the Sitara-i-Imtiaz, one of Pakistan’s highest civilian honours for public service in Pakistan. He was given the award by President Mamnoon Hussain at an event held at the Presidency Palace on Friday the 23rd of March.
Mr Bashir has been at the helm of the organization since its foundation in 1990. During his time in this role, he has raised a very substantial amount for public healthcare. The organization’s Vice-Chairman, Mr Mushtaq Chhapra, received the same award last year.
Patients’ Aid Foundation is one of Pakistan’s leading healthcare organizations supporting 1.2 million patients a year, who receive treatment at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre Karachi free-of-cost. It raises private philanthropic donations for the public health sector, while being responsible for the running and maintenance of facilities such as the Blood Bank, the Neurotrauma, Radiology, Oncology, Ophthalmology and several others. Patients’ Aid Foundation has also invested in and manages the CyberKnife (Advanced Robotic Cancer Treatment), PET Scan, MRI, Mammography and other similar health facilities. Patients’ Aid Foundation is also funding the building of many new facilities at Jinnah, including the New OPD & Surgical Complex, and Jinnah Food Complex.
Mr. Bashir, commented on this occasion that he was “honoured, yet humbled” by the award and that this was testament to the hard work and dedication of the staff and the contributions of the donors that he, and Patients’ Aid Foundation, were being recognized in this way.
Dr. Seemin Jamali, Executive Director (JPMC) and Dr. Tariq Mahmood, Head of the Radiology Department and CyberKnife cancer treatment unit were also awarded the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz for their services to the field of medicine and public service on this auspicious occasion. Dr. Jamali served as the head of the emergency department at the hospital before being promoted to the executive post.
For good health, food hygiene plays a vital role. Patients’ Aid Foundation has achieved yet another milestone and added a feather in their cap by collaboratively launching the Jinnah Food Complex with Jinnah Post Graduate Medical Centre. The groundbreaking ceremony took place recently at the site of this project. It was well attended by the Donors, their Families, the Members of the Board of Patients’ Aid Foundation, Dr. Seemin Jamali (Executive Director, JPGMC), Members of Patients’ Aid Foundations’ Fundraising Committee, and Members of Nespak. Patients’ Aid Foundation is striving to achieve higher grounds by launching a series of projects at JPGMC to develop it into the most advanced state-of-the-art healthcare facility in Pakistan. We would like to thank everyone who has come forward to show support and help us turn tears into cheers.

Patients’ Aid Foundation (PAF) is striving harder with each coming year to extend its efforts further to help the poorest of the poor. The year 2018 begins with such a leap only, where the OPD block of the New OPD & Surgical Complex was inaugurated today with a DUA ceremony which was held at the facility. The guests who honored us with their presence included the donors, their families, and guests from the industry. It was a memorable event as everyone came forward to show their heartwarming support for a cause which motivates PAF each day to do better for those in need. It is with the same strength that we continue to move forward and aim to achieve bigger milestones in the future.

Before stealing our hearts with his performance at our annual #fundraiser, Ali Zafar paid us a visit at PAF, JPMC to see what we were all about. We were thrilled to show him some of PAF’s greatest achievements, such as the new Radiology building, the Neurotrauma unit, and most importantly, the cancer-killing CyberKnife robotic arm!! He was truly impressed with all the work that PAF has been doing at JPMC. After his tour he said a few words about PAF projects, World Cancer Day, and last but not least, pledged Rs 500,000 to PAF!
