In a tumultuous city like Karachi, where political unrest and violence are commonplace, the Accident and Emergency department is crucial to the smooth running of JPMC. It not only takes in cases that no other hospital is willing to deal with, but also attends to victims of burns, motor accidents, viral infections, gunshot wounds and emergencies such as bomb blasts, on the regular. PAF recognized the need for a more efficient department, and hence, completed the renovation of the Accident and Emergency Facility in 2008. A&E is now thriving with clean wards, new equipment, furniture and fixtures, and efficient access to the building.
